DAY 1
Welcome to kigali and the start of your adventure
Arrive at Kigali International Airport and welcomed by our representative outside the customs and immigration hall, who will assist with immigration procedures. A transfer will take you to your city accommodation. You will check-in and in the afternoon you will have a brief city tour of Kigali and visit the Genocide memorial. The Memorial acts as a humbling reminder to those present and honors those who have been lost. Audiovisual equipment will be provided in Dutch, English, and other languages. After your visit, you will return to your hotel followed by dinner and an overnight stay at Kigali Serena Hotel
DAY 2
Drive to nyungwe national park- 6 hour drive
After an early breakfast, you will drive to your accommodation-One&Only Nyungwe House. Situated in south-western Rwanda, the Nyungwe Forest National Park is known for its exceptional biodiversity and its wide range of endemic species. You will arrive in time for lunch and spend this day at leisure enjoying the property complimentary activities.
DAY 3
Chimp trekking and canopy walk
The day begins bright and early, driving to the park headquarters at 5:00am with a packed
Breakfast from the resort. After an insightful chimpanzee trek briefing, you’ll be escorted to the forest for 6:00am, to start your trek. Upon encountering the chimps, you can stay in their presence for one hour as you enjoy their acrobatics, feeding, and day-to-day behaviors. You’ll then make your return to the resort at around 11:00am, and lunch will be served. In the afternoon, you will then have a canopy walk. On this journey, your expert park guide will not only reveal the forest canopy, but also explain why it is an integral part of the tropical rainforest ecosystem. You will learn what the major characteristics of a rainforest and its canopy are, and the importance Nyungwe National Park has for Rwanda as a whole.
DAY 4
Drive back to kigali for departure- 6 hour drive
Today you will have your breakfast and after check out of your resort and drive back to Kigali. On your way you will stop in Butare and visit the Ethnographic Museum. A gift from Belgium’s King Badouin in the late 1980s, the Ethnographic Museum now houses one of Africa’s finest ethnographic collections. Seven galleries display historical, ethnographic, artistic and archaeological artefacts accompanied by visual aids, giving visitors a rich insight into the Rwandan culture. You will then have lunch and proceed to Kigali Airport for departure.
